The New Face of Business Portraits

Lighten Up Photos is the Publicity Portrait division of JennKL Photography.

My goal with Lighten Up Photos is simple… to change the face of business portraits.

Typical business portraits don’t allow your true brilliance to shine through; they’re often too stiff, posed and uncomfortable.  The “corporate-made-me-take-this-photo” photo. It’s time to Lighten things Up. I want everyone who looks at your portrait to see you at your best. The true you. Period.

*Easy        *Natural        *Convenient       *Saves You Time

*You at Your Best       *Fast Turnaround

My promise to you: easy, natural portraits that you’ll be proud to use, taken in an efficient session that saves you time and works with your schedule.

In addition to your portrait, I invite you to have your place of business, products and staff photographed to build out all of your marketing efforts.

This is about more than just taking your picture; it’s about giving you powerful marketing tools that will attract new business and wow current clients by enhancing your website, print pieces and social networking profiles.  The goal – a full portfolio of publicity portraits that show how you want to present yourself to the world in every area of your business and life.

Out with the awkward, In with the awesome!

Author Portraits: New Children’s Book, Pretty Dolls (JennKL Photography)

One of my publicity/author portrait clients just contacted me and let me know that her children’s book Pretty Dolls is set to release on November 15th.  I just LOVE seeing a client’s dreams come true and hard work pay off. Here is a link to Pretty Dolls, by Kimberly Dana (you can pre order on Amazon).

A description of the book…Gracie is the purple-eyed, one-armed, spiky-haired doll who has won the snuggly arms and heart of Tasha. Only Emily-Nicole, the prettiest porcelain doll in Tasha’s collection, will have none of it. What Tasha doesn’t know is that when the lights go out, the doll wars begin…

I’m so happy for you Kimberly!!!

Beautiful Testimonial from A Wonderful Client – Beverly Hills Business Portrait Photographer

Thank you to Tonia Gould, owner of Tag! www.tagsource.com for this beautiful testimonial…”My experience with Jennifer Kelley Lublin at JennKL Photography was nothing short of perfect.  From the moment I walked through her office door, I was immediately struck by the warmth and ambiance of her creative space.   Once I met Jennifer; my qualms about getting my picture taken were immediately put to rest.  She gets you to open-up while making you feel comfortable enough to forget that you’re being photographed.  Later, I discovered that while I was talking about things I was passionate about with her, that was when she was doing her best work.   Jennifer is the consummate professional and, down to every detail, she captures the best part of “you” in her photographs.   I highly recommend Jennifer as your personal, professional photographer.”

Below are a few of my favorites from Tonia’s Business Portrait/Publicity Session…

What should I wear for my business portrait session?

This is always one of the first questions asked when someone books a portrait session. What should I wear?  My recommendation is to always dress in whatever makes you feel fabulous and represents you and your individual style best. Whether it’s for individual portraits, family portraits or business headshots…wear what you like. What you feel great in. Period.

Complimentary colors are nice…say burgundy, navy blue, deep green, browns…have fun and mix and match.  Solid colors are always a good choice, clean and simple.  I am a big fan of lots of color, the more expressive the better.

You don’t always have to be matchy-match.  But, if you do choose to match, try and be creative and have the textures and styles be different.

A good thing to avoid… stripes, busy patterns and logos.  You want the focus to be you and if you’re wearing some busy pattern it draws the attention away from you.  Stripes sometimes cause a weird blurring effect, slight aberration.  And logos are simply an unnecessary distraction.

What is your favorite style to wear?  What is your favorite color to wear?

Below are some portraits of what I think are great examples of clothing for a portrait session…notice the individual choices, bold colors, a layered look, business casual or wearing a suit, dressing in what you typically wear to work…there are many options.

It will always be the right choice if you wear what makes you feel great.

Portraits with Professors

I love helping people get amazing portraits of themselves. I am on a special mission to change the face of the business portrait world.  Natural light and a comfortable environment are two key elements to a great portrait session.  I like to keep things light and fun and capture the true you.  I was recently commissioned to photograph 17 different teachers for the LAX Coastal Area Chamber of Commerce Teacher Eddy awards.  I went out to each university, high school or elementary school and spent about an hour with each professor/teacher.  Below are some of my favorites…
